9. Emily Josephine "Josie" Hobbs

She was the mother of 10 children, according to the 1900 census.

Josephine Hobbs, 13 years old on the 1870 census, resided with Lewis A. and
Maria Baldwin. She held valuable real estate and personal property at that
time. Maria Baldwin was the daughter of Boon and Rebecca (Beall) Elledge.
It is suspected that this family raised Josephine after the death of her
father. It is possible that the father, Uriah, of Mary Margaret Elledge
and this Maria Baldwin, nee Elledge, were half-siblings -- both born in KY,
Uriah b.1803 and Maria b.1817.

Emily's mother, Mary Margaret Elledge Hobbs, married 2nd (15 years after the
death of her 1st husband) William H. White in Pike Co., IL -- apparently
moved to Kansas

Finis Lowery Hobbs died at the age of 21, leaving no possibility of more than
the one child, Emily Josephine Hobbs.

Leonard T. Gratton (with his wife, Mary D. Hobbs, who was the aunt of Emily)
was the first guardian of Emily Josephine Hobbs.

Lewis H. Baldwin (with his wife, Maria Jane Elledge, who was the grandaunt of
Emily) was the second guardian of Emily Josephine Hobbs.

John G. White (with his wife, Emily J. Elledge, who was the aunt of Emily)
was the third guardian of Emily Josephine Hobbs. John was the brother of
William H. White, the second husband of Emily's mother (m. 7 May 1872 when
Emily was already 15 years old).
